9 July: Climate Change 08: Creating a Low Carbon Economy

Silk Street
London
Climate change and energy concerns are now at the forefront of public policy in Britain - concerns over greenhouse gas emissions, clean energy, and the impacts of our changing climate have gripped the nation like never before. The emission reduction targets have been established; the time for meaningful reductions has arrived.
"The UK is on track to meet and go well beyond its Kyoto commitments,
but as a country we must do much more across the board. We have to make
a real change to every aspect of our lives and our economy. The
Government is taking steps to make that happen"
Hilary Benn MP Environment Secretary
The Government has committed itself to the global struggle to counter and adapt to climate change, and through the groundbreaking Climate Bill it hopes to address the issues fundamental to it, setting out on the path to securing further reductions in CO2 emissions across the residential and business sectors.
Public Service Events is proud to announce its latest conference concerned with this debate: Climate Change 08: creating a low carbon economy, to be hosted at the Barbican Centre, London on 9th July 2008. This event will focus on the key drivers of the Climate Bill, clean energy, the reduction of greenhouse emissions, and how emerging technology has a vital role to play in meeting the UK's 60% reduction targets by 2050.
The event will draw upon expert knowledge and insight to showcase the latest thoughts on climate change; the changes required in our society to prevent further catastrophic alterations to our climate; how to adapt to the changes already in evidence; and how to encourage climate-conscious behaviour in every sector.
Can the Energy Bill create the foundations to meet the nation's need for clean and safe energy? Is nuclear power the right solution to this problem? How can the Government change behaviour? Climate Change 08 will provide delegates with the chance to debate these highly charged topics and network with like minded professionals.
Climate change is now an accepted reality - to secure your place at this leading edge event and learn more about the agendas surrounding both the Climate and Energy Bill, and how it will affect you and your daily work, book today!
