The UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) – also known as Rio+20 – will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 20-22 June 2012. The event marks the 20th anniversary of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro, hence the shortened name Rio+20.
A huge protest is currently taking place in the US against a pipeline from the Alberta tar sands, described by activist Bill McKibben as "the largest civil disobedience movement in the history of the climate movement."

The People's Petition for a Million Climate Jobs was launched on 26 March 2011, the day of the huge TUC march for the alternative to cuts and redundancies.
The Campaign against Climate Change is calling on its supporters to support the Climate Emergency EDM. This EDM is demanding a zero carbon Britain by 2030.
The Big Climate Connection lobby in November 2010, organised by Stop Climate Chaos coalition, saw more than 220 MPs lobbied by constituents. For Spring 2011, SCC are following it up with more MP lobbies and also with public meetings.
