Climate Vigil

05/07/2010

Light a candle for science, reason, truth and climate justice on the 15th of May...

May 2010: On Saturday, 15 May at St Martin in the Fields Church, Trafalgar Square, London; join Operation Noah, CEL and CaCC for an all-night vigil on climate change. Starting at 11pm, Revd Chris Brice is leading the service. Our very own Mark Dowd will speak on the crisis in Climate Change, the damages the world is already experiencing, the failures in the international negotiations, and hopes for what the new British Government can bring.

At midnight members of the congregation have the opportunity of joining the Campaign against Climate Change (CaCC) candlelit procession from Trafalgar Square, down Whitehall to Old Palace Yard, near the Houses of Parliament. After speeches the vigils begin – CaCC in Old Palace Yard and St Jude’s Community Centre and a meditative prayer vigil in Lambeth Methodist Mission.

Throughout the night, Christian Ecology Link will be hosting a space for prayers, quiet music, meditation and reflection at the Lambeth Methodist Mission, 3 – 5 Lambeth Road, London, SE1 7DQ. Join us there from 1.30am to 4.30am for Prayer, Readings, Classical Music, Taize, tea and toilets. At 4.30am participants will return to join the CaCC Vigil for the Dawn Zero Carbon event in Old Palace Yard.
