Invite Operation Noah's experts to come and help you 'Live the Future' Do you think you and your faith community could take on a leadership role and Live the Future to save the planet? If so then Operation Noah's experts are available to support you. Ann Pettifor or Mark will visit your faith group (for a small fee) and offer inspiration, information, good practice, guidance and support to help YOU Live the Future. Become a 'Green Disciple', lead your community towards the future, towards fulfilling de-carbonised lifestyles. If you are interested in inviting Ann or Mark to help you intiate your own 'Live the Future' programme write to Ann Pettifor ann.pettifor@operationnoah.org. As part of the programme, there will be time set aside with the group to recall past sin, agree alternatives, and move forward into a new life of redemption, generosity and community. Congregations will be invited:
1) To undertake regular group contemplation on themes relating to Creation and the relevance of faith to the crisis. 2) To undertake de-carbonising activities, including: - the renunciation of flying except in case of a personal or family emergency - the adoption of sustainable means of transport: walking, cycling, rail travel and "staycationing”; - the undertaking of environmental audits of the congregation’s households and where needed, with financial assistance from appropriate agencies, a programme of de-carbonising homes with insulation, sustainable heating systems, repairs, smart meters etc. - a similar audit of church buildings - changing energy suppliers to those committed to renewables. 3. To treat each de-carbonising action, as an act of worship. 4. To exchange food growing skills and to make every effort to source food as locally as possible. 5. To undertake simple activities for de-carbonising lifestyles – e.g. the use of warm woollies instead of carbon-based sources of heating.
