Give Away your unwanted items on Efreeko.co.uk, a new, national website allowing people to give away their unwanted items

Efreeko.co.uk is a fast growing, new national website, which enables people to GIVE anything they want to anyone, anywhere in the UK.
It's free to register, free to use, and everything on the site is FREE.
"Giving useable items away to folks who have a need for them rather than sending them to landfill sites is essentially what efreeko is all about," says Jo Passmore, web developer, committed Christian and co-founder. "We believe passionately in people giving to people and efreeko not only enables and smoothes that process, but in turn helps reduce the massive amount of perfectly good 'stuff' that ends up in landfill sites."
Just nine months into its creation the site has gained almost 2000 members and hundreds of items have been happily recycled among this new community of "givers".
"Frankly,"says Jo, "it's all been a little overwhelming. A fellow web developer (Matt Argyle) and myself came up with the idea of creating a website rather like ebay, where everything offered would be free, but it's true to say that we were unprepared for the level of response the site received. On our first day of operation, the site was visited by over 600 people, and by the end of the first month more than 200 items had found new homes!"
"So we have really been encouraged to develop the project. We can see that efreeko offers a great opportunity for a social network in which Christians can actively engage with the world to 'give as well as receive' in a really healthy, environmentally conscious way."
Families with young children benefit hugely from the amount of baby products offered on the site - cots, buggies, clothes and toys etc. New home owners can find furniture and household items. Even a car appeared on the site recently!
One member commented, "I think the whole thing is a fantastic idea, both in practical recycling terms and of course finding something you've been looking out for, for free! There's also a great feel good factor involved when you give away your unwanted items to a grateful recipient!"
Efreeko.co.uk allows its members to search categories, view pictures of the items offered, see how far they may need to travel to collect an item, and even arrange for goods to be posted if they are too far away. A partnership with Kwik Express Couriers enables easy collection and delivery of large or heavy items if necessary.
Efreeko was started in December 2006 by Matt Argyle and Jo Passmore, two internet developers who are based in Chichester. Both are married with children. Jo and her husband Phil are active members of Bognor Regis Baptist Church.
Both Jo and Matt are passionate about the environment and wanted to combine a website with a sustainable theme. Efreeko is a web fronted national database of goods that people wish to recycle for free.
