As we come to the end of the year, we are giving thanks for all that has happened in the past 12 months, including the culmination of our Bright Now fossil fuel divestment campaign which has now seen nearly every major UK denomination divest from fossil fuels. This includes the Church of England’s National Investing Bodies and, as of last month, every Church of England diocese.
In 2025, we also built momentum for our Green Investment Declaration as the Quakers in Britain signed the declaration and are already putting 8% of their investments directly into renewable energy projects, while in recent weeks, the World Council of Churches – a fellowship of 356 member Churches representing more than half a billion Christians – has endorsed the Green Investment Declaration. We also delivered our letter signed by 500+ supporters to seven UK denominations, calling on them to achieve net zero land emissions by 2030 alongside making other environmental improvements to Church-owned land.
