As the Green Investment Roadshow comes to London on 7 September, it’s estimated that, globally, Christian-aligned capital totals $260 billion, with tens of billions based in the UK 

4 September 2026: After a summer of record-breaking heat – and as Andy Burnham considers opening new oil and gas fields which would go against the conclusion of the world’s top climate scientists who insist that the world can’t open new fossil fuel developments if we hope to avoid the most severe impacts of global heating – Operation Noah is calling for urgent investment in climate solutions via a Green Investment Roadshow, with the next stop in London on 7 September. 

Operation Noah’s Green Investment Roadshow is for denominational leaders, treasurers of faith groups, Christian campaigners and everyday churchgoers to learn how Christians can align their money with their values and fund a liveable future. 

Research conducted in 2022 by Oxford University’s Saïd Business School found that Christian-aligned capital totalled approximately $260 billion worldwide. Tens of billions of pounds of Church capital are based in the UK alone, and as a global hub for energy financing, actions taken by UK denominational investors can have a significant impact, with the Church of England making international news in 2023 when its national investing bodies announced their divestment from fossil fuels. Faith institutions are also looked to by other charities and outside groups for ethical investing advice, and can speak not just the language of finance, but values. 

As well as helping to move the wider investing landscape towards green investment, the Green Investment Roadshow aims to transform what are often passive financial assets held by Churches into active tools for creation care, reflecting the values of these faith institutions. To help do this, faith institutions are being encouraged to sign the Green Investment Declaration. 

‘We already have solutions to our changing climate, from solar, wind farms and clean transport to resilient farming methods,’ said Clare Fussell, Campaign Director at Operation Noah which led the successful campaign for UK Churches to divest from fossil fuels and is now encouraging green investment. ‘What’s missing is the investment to make them equitable, scalable and fast. As Christians, we have the opportunity to put our money where our faith is.’ 

The Green Investment Roadshow – which is being delivered with JustMoney Movement and Hope for the Future alongside input from financial experts and faith leaders – continues on 7 September in London before travelling to Worcester on 24 September and Edinburgh on 2 October. Attendees will hear from expert investment panels, discover direct impact investment opportunities, and learn strategies to influence public sector pensions.

The 7 September roadshow event at Friends House in Euston, London will feature a range of speakers, including Paul Parker, Recording Clerk for Quakers in Britain; James Corah, Head of Sustainability at CCLA; Ray Coyle, CEO at Energise Africa; and Andrew Harper, Executive Director and Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Epworth Investment Management. 

Operation Noah will also release a new report – Investing with Purpose: Practical Pathways for Church Investment in Climate Solutions – later this autumn.
