Supporting Farmers and Sustainable Land Use on World Farmers’ Day

14 May 2025
Growing Hope webinar features sustainable farming examples

On World Farmers’ Day, it’s a good chance to celebrate the vital work so many farmers are doing to provide sustainable food for us, especially where they farm in a way that is climate and nature-friendly. Our webinar on Monday 12 May had a big agricultural focus as a large proportion of church land in the UK is farmed by tenants.

It was good to hear from Hannah Jones from Farm Carbon Toolkit about the ways of farming which can aim for Farm Net Zero, minimising planet-warming emissions. Rhys Evans from Nature Friendly Farming Network also included opportunities for Win-Win-Win in terms of climate resilient farming in Wales which is good for farmers, the climate and biodiversity. We also heard from Simon Gibson from Lee Abbey about their work planting trees to restore Atlantic rainforest.

You can catch up on the webinar and hear more about our Church Land Use campaign here.
