Despite attacks on net zero in the UK and American attempts to prioritise fossil fuel production over green energy, the vice-like grip of fossil fuels continues to loosen around the world. Yet as David Wallace-Wells of The New York Times writes, ‘New green energy has mostly supplemented rather than displaced fossil fuels. Globally, emissions are still climbing, if slowly, and temperatures are not only rising but rising at an accelerating rate, raising the…possibility that the…climate…may be more sensitive to emissions than almost anyone had bargained for.’

‘The Antidote to Hopelessness is Always Action’: Operation Noah Trustee Abi Taylor’s Climate Activism

I was a passionate climate activist as a student, leading Durham’s biggest environmental campaigning group. We pushed for fossil fuel companies to be cut from our careers fairs and for the University to divest from Barclays Bank, the number one fossil fuel investor in Europe. My time as a student led to me connecting with a wide range of climate charities, from Uplift to Global Justice Now and People and Planet.

Catholic Investors’ Forum: Join the Thursday 5th March Online Discussion at 3pm

Operation Noah is delighted to support the creation of a Catholic Investors’ Forum, which is holding its inaugural online meeting on Thursday 5th March from 3pm to 4.30pm. How the Church invests its resources sends a powerful signal to wider society, and this peer-to-peer forum will create space for dioceses and religious orders to share their green investment – and other ethical investment – experiences.

Lent Resources from Operation Noah

As Lent approaches, your church may be looking for resources to study or discuss, and we have several suggestions if you are interested in exploring the climate crisis from a Christian perspective.

January 2026 Newsletter

As the world gets more turbulent, some countries are doubling down on the old, polluting ways of doing things, while others are embracing a clean energy future, with encouraging statistics out this month showing that in December 2025, EVs outsold petrol vehicles in the EU for the first time, while coal-fired power generation dropped in both China and India.

Why Renewables are the Path to Global Peace

Last summer, we wrote about the inseparable link between fossil fuels and conflict. We observed that where there is oil and gas prospecting and extraction, violence, exploitation and the erosion of human rights often follow. This month, that pattern has sadly repeated itself with devastating clarity in Venezuela, the country with the world’s largest oil reserves.
